Dr Bernie Borgstein has recently retired from her post as Consultant and Lead Clinician in Paediatric Audiology at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. She was Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. She now practices at the Portland Hospital in London. As a paediatrician specializing in audiological medicine she has an interest and expertise in assessing and managing hearing difficulties of any degree in the context of the whole child and family.
Dr Borgstein qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine (University of London). Following 2 years of general medical and surgical experience in Malawi, her career has been London teaching hospital based. She trained in paediatrics and developmental paediatrics and then subspecialised in audiological medicine. She has trained and worked at King’s College Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children in Great Ormond St, University College London and St George’s Hospital. She previously held an academic contract with University College London in the Department of Audiological Medicine training students on the MSc in Audiological Medicine course and was Team Leader for the Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster Newborn Hearing Screening Programme.
Dr Borgstein works closely with paediatric and ear, nose and throat surgical colleagues at Imperial, the Portland, Great Ormond Street and the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospitals in order to provide a comprehensive service to her .
